Below are some pretty common dental problems, as well as some solutions. Dental Anxiety

Patients with dental anxiety and those concerned with pain now have a variety of sedation dentistry methods to choose from, including oral conscious sedation, moderate sedation, or deep sedation. Dr. Glueckert-Reinicke can determine an option to suit your particular needs.

Severely cracked or fractured teeth will require treatment beyond dental inlays or onlays. A permanaent crown can be used to cover and protect the damaged tooth to restore the tooth's function and improve its appearance using a porcelain or ceramic crown.

Broken, Cracked or Fractured Teeth

Severely Worn, Missing and Damaged Teeth

Neglecting oral care for a long period of time may result in severely worn, missing, or damaged teeth, requiring more extensive restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments. In these situations, your dentist can perform what is known as “full-mouth reconstruction.” This treatment can incorporate a number of procedures, from thorough cleanings to dental implant restorations in order to restore a beautiful smile. Missing teeth should be replaced for continued oral health and to maintain an attractive smile. Dental Implants or implant-supported dental bridges, removable full and partial dentures are some of the options available.

Unattractive Smile

Teeth that are too short or long, stained, chipped, misaligned or overcrowded often make up what may be to you a less-than-beautiful smile. In this situation, Dr. Glueckert can perform various cosmetic dentistry treatments. In particular, she can place veneers over your teeth to correct virtually any cosmetic problem.

Stained, Discolored or Dull Teeth

Drinking coffee or tea (or smoking) can result in stubborn stains that cannot be removed by ordinary brushing. Aging or the use of some prescription medicines are also known causes of teeth discoloration. In-office or take-home teeth whitening are potential solutions to give you a whiter, more beautiful smile.

Mild to Moderate Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is very common among patients of all ages and needs to be removed to protect the health of your smile. After removing an area of decay, Dr. Glueckert will generally treat it with a tooth-colored white filling, or reinforce the tooth with dental inlays or onlays.

Misaligned, Crooked or Overlapping Teeth / Bite

For more severely misaligned, crooked, or overlapping teeth which cannot be fixed with minor cosmetic dentistry solutions (such as veneers or bonding), Dr. Glueckert will generally recommend orthodontic treatment. However, you can now opt to have an alternative to traditional metal braces by using ClearCorrect®, known as “invisible” braces.

Putting off dental care for any reason may cost you more in the long run, and there's great truth to the old saying that "A Stitch In Time Saves Nine." Jaw Pain, Soreness, or Stiffness

The jawbone and skull meet in the temporomandibular joint, also known as the TMJ. A stressed or misaligned TMJ can cause headaches, jaw pain or ear pain. After a thorough examination and evaluation of your condition, Dr. Glueckert-Reinicke can offer treatment options, including bite appliances, orthodontics, and joint-relaxation techniques.

Periodontal Disease (Gum Disease) - Swollen or Bleeding Gums

When you have painful, swollen, or inflamed gums, you should visit your dentist immediately for an examination and evaluation of the possibility of periodontal (gum) disease. Gum disease treatment can be a simple deep-cleaning for a mild form of the disease (gingivitis). Or, for more advanced forms of gum disease (periodontitis) a more involved surgical intervention may be necessary.

Chipped Teeth and Minor Gaps

Minor cosmetic issues with one’s smile include jagged or chipped teeth and noticeable gaps between teeth. Your dentist can apply dental bonding using tooth-colored material to correct these minor imperfections in just one visit.

Severe Tooth Pain

If you feel tooth pain, you could be suffering from a number of dental problems. These include tooth decay or infection of the root of a tooth. In the case of a root infection, your dentist can apply root canal therapy to clean out the infected tissue and to fill the tooth's canal to prevent further infection.
