Audubon Dental is proud to serve you as your General Dentist. Dr. Glueckert and other general dentists serve as your first line of defense against oral health problems. General Dentistry refers to care given by primary dental care providers for patients of all ages. We provide services related to the general maintenance of oral hygiene and tooth health. We also take responsibility for the diagnosis, treatment and overall coordination of services to meet your oral health needs. We will work with you to develop a customized dental health plan, with particular emphasis on preventing the development of serious dental health problems through proper oral health maintenance and regular checkups. In cases where we may refer you to (or work with) a more specialized practitioner (such as an endodontist or and oral surgeon, we will help you with the appropriate referral.
What Constitutes a Dental Health and Treatment Plan?
A customized dental health and treatment plan formulated by your general dentist incorporates a dental examination, tooth cleaning, possible tooth scaling, x-rays and use of other diagnostic equipment to prevent, uncover or treat problems as early as possible. The plan incorporates a variety of restorative procedures not only to help prevent decay or diseases of the teeth, mouth, gums and tongue, but also to repair the effects of decay, trauma, defect or disease in these areas of the mouth. The underlying foundation of the plan is the General Dentist's obligation to every patient to do three things:
Help every patient see and understand every problem that is present
Explain the implications of not treating any problem in a timely manner
Explain what should be done
What Procedures and Treatments do General Dentists Provide?
General Dentists are highly educated and trained to perform all dental procedures. While they may not have specialized in one area of dentistry through postgraduate specialist education programs (see the nine specialty fields of dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association), general dentists can perform a wide array of dental procedures in which they have gained expertise through advanced professional dental education programs (these include continuing education programs, which all General Dentists must acquire continuing education units (CEUs) through in order to renew their licenses to practice). These procedures include:
Cosmetic procedures (Cosmetic Dentistry)
Crowns and Bridges
Gum Disease Treatment
Home Care Instruction
Root Canal Therapy
Sedation Dentistry / Sleep Apnea Therapy
